CM-NZ played a central role in rebuilding the True Jesus Church, a project with deep community meaning.

The original iconic Warren & Mahoney Architects designed church was badly damaged during the Canterbury earthquakes. It held decades of history, identity, and connection for its congregation. The rebuild was not just about replacing a structure. It was about restoring a place of belonging for the church community.

Balancing Heritage with Delivery

The project balanced heritage with a clear, modern vision. Part of the original structure was retained and earthquake strengthened. This decision preserved a physical link to the past while ensuring a more resilient structure.

CM-NZ was engaged by the church board to lead project management and quantity surveying. We provided full financial oversight, procurement support, and engineer to contract management from early stages through delivery.

The project required careful coordination at every step. The design included complex architectural forms and bespoke interior finishes. These elements demanded close collaboration between consultants, contractors, and the client.

We managed a live and evolving scope while maintaining cost discipline. Our team tracked changes closely, provided clear reporting, and supported informed decisions. This approach kept the project aligned with budget expectations and avoided surprises.

A Landmark Rebuilt for the Future

The church holds a visible place within Christchurch and is recognised by the wider community as a local landmark. That placed added responsibility on the team to deliver a result that respected both its history and its future role.

Devotional buildings require a different level of care. Every decision carries cultural and spiritual weight. We worked closely with stakeholders to respect these values while progressing the build with clarity and structure.

The finished building reflects that shared effort. It provides a safe, enduring space for worship, gathering, and community life.

For CM-NZ, this project reflects what matters most. Clear advice. Strong oversight. Practical delivery and outcomes that create lasting value for communities.
